Influence of protein deficiency on 19S antibody-forming cells in rats and mice.

چکیده
Influence of protein deficiency on immune response to sheep red blood cells was investigated in rats and mice with Jerne's plaque-forming cell technique. Protein deficiency resulted in a reduction in the number of antibodyproducing cells consequent upon a prolongation of cell generation time in rats. Injection of syngeneic thymocytes brings about better improvement in the im mune response of the X-radiated protein-deficient mice as compared to the con trols. It is suggested that depressed immunity in malnutrition may be partly due to a disturbance in thymic function. J. Nutr. 102: 841-846, 1972. INDEXING

اثر کمبود شدید پروتئین بر روی پاسخهای خاطرهای سیستم ایمنی
ABSTRACT: The effect of protein deficiency on the immune response upon primary and secondary stimulation with 5×108 sheep red blood cells (SRBC) was studied in 4 groups of mice fed by diets containing 4 or 21 percent of protein.Primary and secondary immune response were assessed by quantification of direct and indirect plaque forming cells (PFC) in immune spleens and by titration of serum hema...
متن کاملAntibody Response to Human Extracellular HER2 Subdomain Proteins in Mice
Background: In addition to passive immunotherapy using anti-HER2 monoclonal antibodies, active immunotherapy via HER2 targeting is an interesting approach to inducing specific anti-tumor immune responses. We have recently reported the immunogenicity of HER2 subdomains following DNA immunization and HER2 protein boosting. In the present study, we evaluated the immunogenicity of different HER2 ex...
متن کاملImmunization with cytomegalovirus gB protein produced by the Baculovirus Expression Vector System to elicit humoral immune response in BALB/c mice
Introduction: Due to the role of neutralizing antibodies which can prevent human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection, most of the efforts have been focused on designing vaccines capable of eliciting protective humoral immunity. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibody response of BALB/c mice to a truncated HCMV glycoprotein B produced in insect cells using Baculovirus Expression Vector ...
متن کاملThe Effect of Antigenic Competition on Various Manifestations of Humoral Antibody Formation and Cellular Immunity
The effect of antigenic competition on various parameters of humoral antibody formation and cellular immunity was studied in mice. Several pairs of antigens were employed in the investigation of the competitive aspects of induction of humoral antibody formation. Induction of a primary immune response to hemocyanin in Swiss white female mice moderately suppressed the induction of both 19S and 7S...
متن کاملThe Mechanism of Tolerance Produced in Rats to Sheep Erythrocytes
Previous studies suggested that an active immune response was partially responsible for maintaining immunological unresponsiveness to sheep erythrocytes. Measurement of the plaque-forming (antibody-releasing) cell response proved to be a sensitive indicator of an immune response to sheep erythrocytes in the absence of detectable circulating antibody to the antigen. The present studies were unde...
